3 Power cords, 2 Techy gifts, and the Partridge Pear Tree Thing

Hello blog world. Let's cover the last few weeks, shall we?  In bullet form just to spice it up.
  • After 3 Power cord replacements and shipping my Macbook Pro off for a new power unit, the issue is fixed.
  • I wouldn't have had to fry 3 powerbricks had they replaced the 3 prong cord that initially shipped
  • Mom got me an awesome Xbox 360 for my b-day (that should explain the lack of post-age)
  • She also got me an iPod touch for Christmas (having a birthday in the same month is awesome)
  • I chose to have it engraved so it's not here yet. Somewhere in Alaska right now.
  • This would be a good time to plug the Delivery Status widget
  • Thinking about jailbreaking the iPod when it gets here, but with the software developer pack releasing so soon, i may wait.
A few other notable gifts (the pear tree, if you will):

Live is Down.

So I sat down this afternoon to play a little Halo (as if it needs a link) on Xbox Live, something that I do to unwind after day at work, or if I have a little leisure time.  Only problem is I couldn't connect.  Looked online and found this:

live is down

Typical Microsoft.  So I'm looking for other things to do.  Maybe I'll watch Elf again, it was a good flick.  Oh and if you're interested, you can always check the status of Xbox Live here (in the sidebar).

Power cord woes

I love my MacBook Pro.  I don't love when it refuses to charge (makes things a little unproductive, don't ya think?).  I had the old power "brick" (noted for it's size) model, and it was working great, only it had a few bare wires showing.
Although this wasn't a serious issue, I have AppleCare and since I'm paying for it, might as well get a new one.  Long story short, I get the new one bring it home, plug it in and within an hour it shorts out.  I tried unplugging it, resetting the power management features on the MBP, checking the pins, nothing worked.
I take it into the store, (in the neat little packaging it came in only two days earlier), wait two hours only for it to work perfectly when it gets to the genius bar (of course).  The guy suggested getting a power conditioner to help reduce electric interference and noise.
So do I trust a 'genius'?  It seems like a worthy investment independent of my laptop.  What do you think?

Santa's Lap 2.0

Tired of being asked the question "What would you like for Christmas?"  It's not like the question itself is a bad thing, but if you're like me, it's sometimes hard to come up with an idea right on the spot.  Plan ahead with YourChristmasList.com
This site allows you to make a wish list and then send notifications to all of your family and friends via email, or they can sign up for the RSS feed to be notified of new gift ideas.  The admin section allows you to add items and include the price, store url, a description field (tell them the size, color, why you want it, etc.), a photo of your choice, and a ratings system that tells them exactly how bad you want that iPhone.

It's not a bad idea to keep up year round... you never know when someone near you is feeling generous. :)
