Experiment: Tiltshift

I've always been interested in tiltshift photos, but never enough to splurge on the lens. So here's my take on tiltshift photography in post.

Conclusion, images with lots of movement taken at a distance work best for creating that "miniature" feel. You may just be seeing this in an upcoming series at KidSpring.

Shaking things up...

In light of how infrequent my blogging is, it's time to shake up the website a bit. I gave it a good 3 year run, but the truth is I don't enjoy writing as much as I do creating content. Twitter does a better job of getting my thoughts out there anyway. It's faster, more concise (140 characters or less), its conversational and casual.

So, I'm ditching the ole blogging platform and making this site about one thing. Creativity. A space that will combine my work (photo, video and mograph forms) alongside inspiration from other artists. To start, here's an amazing piece by Jr.canest

NIN|JA 2009

Last night Ken and I went to see Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction for the NIN|JA 2009 tour. Ken has a more extensive writeup here. All I can say is that Trent Reznor and NIN are amazing performers and I'm glad I had the opportunity to see them live before they go on hiatus (face it, they'll be back).

I would've loved to stay to hear Jane's Addiction play, but they decided to take things too far with their staging.

KidSpring Opener - Super Sports Spectacular

This piece was especially fun due to the opening of the new kids building this weekend. It was great--parents literally had trouble getting their kids out of church when the service was over.
For this opener to work it had to do 3 things:

Fit inside the Super Sports Spectacular Branding

Introduce the KidSpring logo and mascot (Iggy is his name)

Provide a transition point within the service

Getting the spring to bounce just right was a test in patience and physics. I hand keyframed 99% of the movement, but I think the result was well worth it.

Pink Panther 2 Opening Titles

Anna and I went to the movies a few weeks back to catch The Pink Panther 2. Not a bad flick, not exceptional either--mindless comedy. The title sequence, caught my interest and didn't disappoint.

Moving... but not far

In a few days my hosting account will expire, but I'm electing to keep the domain and just forward it to a wordpress.com account.  It's been a long and fun road dabbling in CSS and website building, but I'm not into all the maintanence that ensues.  I'm not sure how the switch will effect RSS readers since the domain technically won't change, but be sure that I'll update you on the latest feed via Twitter.
