I must admit, keeping my cool was a challenge. Honestly, what could I have done? nothing, it was entirely out of my hands. All I could do is get the words ready, run a few mic lines, pray, and wait. I estimated that the band would be there at 8, but they don't roll in until 8:30. We frantically start loading in their equipment, and the rest is a blur. Next thing I know it's 8:45 and everything's set up. Not sure if God slowed down time there or what.. but it's true. I head up to the soundbooth to get a level on the guys, and to my amazement all of my EQ's were already set! (with the exception of the kick drum and bass guitar) it was flawless! To top it all off, it was one of THE best worship experiences we've had this year.
So what does this mean for media ministries? that we can sit around waiting for God to do all of the work? NO. We need to do all we can to create experiences that glorify Him. More importantly, He deserves excellence. If we do all of those things, we are allowing God to take it and do more with it.
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."

I'd like to say upfront that I know this post sounds negative, but it's not intended to be. I simply wanted to use it to illustrate how, despite uncontrollable circumstances, God is constantly at work within us. To all of my BCM pals thanks for being there to help setup, it means so much. Special thanks to Terri for your concern. Also, I'd like to give a huge shout out to the Mel Washington Band. These guys were truly amazing, you should see 'em April 14 @ the Carpenter's Cellar. Show starts at 8pm.
