whew... it's been a rough week in my blogging world. First I move my site to a new directory, but end up changing the rss feed address. (new one here). Then I decided to try and speed up my pageload time by clearing a few unnecessary files, alas, the madness continued. Late last night I was rearranging some files (click,... drag... click...drag) then all of a sudden one, misplaced keystroke deleted my blog. (oops). At least I had a backup.
A few good things did happen. I upgraded the mysql database from 4.0 to 5.0 (I think this is where the speed issue was, but I can't be certain.) and upgraded Wordpress to 2.3. A little disclaimer: Twitter Tools, in it's current version, won't allow you to categorize a daily digest blog post in WP 2.3--- 2.3 added native tagging support and changed the way categories are arranged in your database. Fortunately, the TechDadBlog has a workaround.
All in all the site is running much faster now and hopefully that'll mean more people stick around.
